I decided to participate in this on-line event. You see, I'm a knitter. Love to knit, love sweaters, socks, scarves, hats. All of it. Aparently, there are A LOT of other knitters on the web, and I have subscribed to a few blogs to watch the progress. It's very inspiring to see other people's attempts, so when I heard about this event, I jumped right in.

I decided to design my own pattern, as I have knit a few pairs in my time, and my goal now is to create original pieces. Of course, I did draw on Patons Cable and Eyelet socks from Socks by Beehive (a classic!) for the shaping of the heel, and also referred to Socks Socks Socks for the picot edge pattern (which you can't see in the following images, as it needs to be sewn down yet).

The Progress

pattern and progress
This is the pattern, the yarn, the sock, heel up. This is the first sock, up to the heel.

cabliscious
The cable and eyelet pattern.

knots and twists
A close up of knotty, twisty goodness.

heel
A heel view. Note the eyelets continue down the hell. I think this will look lovely on.

The best part about sockapalooza is that someone right now is knitting a pair of socks for me! All socks must be mailed out on May 4, I can't wait to see what arrives in my mailbox.
